Beta hydroxy acid or ß-hydroxy acid (BHA) is a potent chemical exfoliator that helps the top layer of skin cells to shed more easily. It is oil-soluble and gets deep into the pores, bringing softer, smoother skin to the surface and enlivening the complexion. It also helps other ingredients to penetrate more deeply, increasing their absorption.
Not surprisingly, beta hydroxy acid is a favorite active ingredient in skincare, even though, when used as an isolated chemical, it can irritate the skin.
Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) in Willow Bark Extract
Willow bark extract is high in naturally-occurring beta hydroxy acid and brings all the exfoliator benefits of BHA – and more – with less risk of irritation.
Botanicals such as willow bark extract contain a spectrum of compounds working in harmony to enhance each other’s effects. This results in benefits that are not present in isolated chemicals.
Aside from less risk of irritation, willow bark extract has astringent properties that gently tighten the skin.
It also contains an abundance of skin-enhancing compounds, including flavonoids, tannins and minerals.
An Organic Exfoliator
Exfoliant Supérieure combines willow bark extract with another kind of natural exfoliator – Breton sea salt – that works as a facial scrub, rather than a peel. It also includes rich organic emollients to nourish and moisturize as it exfoliates. Versatile in it’s use as a quick scrub and a gentle peel, it is suitable for all skin types.
Exfoliant Supérieure can be used for a 30-second facial as well as for a gentle, natural peel – simply by leaving it on the skin for an extra 20 minutes or so.
It restores skin’s radiance, diminishes the appearance of fine lines, and reduces breakouts. A truly wondrous skincare product delivering lasting results with the finest natural ingredients.
