With deep gratitude, I feel much more at ease in my own skin at 69 than I did at 29. As a mother and an entrepreneur today I feel more beautiful than I did as a model forty years ago.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR OWN BODY

In my youth, I hardly knew where to start with making sense out of all the information that was thrown at me about beauty and health and how best to live. Over time I’ve learned what works for me.

Walking in nature every day nourishes my soul. Eating well and regular yoga keep my body happy. And I keep my skin looking fabulous with my own simple skincare routine.

YOUR FACE REFLECTS WHO YOU ARE

With each passing year your face shows a life well lived. The face you are blessed with in your youth has a lot to do with genetics.

The face you have as you mature and grow into yourself though, is one that you have started to shape for yourself.

Looking after yourself well, laughing a lot, and managing to survive all that life throws at you – who you really are starts to shine through.

YOU WORRY LESS ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK

One of the joys that comes with the privilege of aging is worrying less about what other people think; relaxing more into what you know to be true; discerning what is and is not important in your life.

And there’s something visible, I think, in this slow growth of gentle self assurance.

LEARNING WHAT SUITS YOU

And not to be flippant, but the power of learning what flatters your individual beauty, and what doesn’t, is a wonderful thing! There comes a point when you just know what works for you.

I love the natural color of my hair, for example, but it took a long time for me to just let it be.

WISDOM SHINES THROUGH

These days there are some things that I know that I know.

Through my experience, I’ve cultivated a strong understanding of health and of beauty. I’m more connected to my passion for writing. I have an eye for what looks good and elegant and just so. And I have some clear desires about what I’d like my daughter to understand about life.

Those things that you know, that wisdom that you have cultivated, it shines out more and more. It draws people to your light. That ever-present light that shines from within grows brighter with time, and that is why I believe beauty improves with age.
